Dr. Reem Abu Hweij is a clinical psychologist, psychotherapist, educator, researcher, and consultant with experience across clinical practice, higher education, humanitarian settings, healthcare systems, and organizational mental health. She earned her Doctor of Psychology and Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from The Wright Institute in California, following an honors degree in psychology from the University of Glasgow. Her clinical work focuses on trauma, anxiety, mood-related difficulties, identity, relationships, meaning-making, and complex psychological experiences. Her approach is informed by psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, trauma-informed care, and an understanding of the social and cultural contexts that shape psychological wellbeing. Alongside her private practice, Dr. Reem teaches psychology and psychotherapy at university level, supervises mental health professionals, advises organizations, and contributes to research and public conversations on trauma, identity, social cohesion, group processes, and liberation psychology.
